Autocad Join Two Polylines

If you are using AutoCAD 2013 or older, you could have problems with the objects. In order to join two objects, they have to be polylines (in the newer versions you can directly join polyline with line, arc, etc. How to join 3D polylines or splines? If you want to join a 3D polyline with another one, or with a spline, you can use the command JOIN. This function joins also two or more 3D polylines into one, or joins a 3D polyline with a spline to a new spline curve. You can use JOIN for 3D lines (geometry) also in AutoCAD LT. Oct 16, 2008  Draw a big rectangle to enclose the two polylines. Use the BPOLY command and select a point inside the rectangle but outside the polylines. The command will create two new polylines: une superposed with the rectangle and one more that suit your needs. Just delete the initial polylines. Every time I fillet 2 separate polylines (regardless of the radius), Autocad automatically joins them into one polyline. Is there an option to switch this automatism off? So that the result is similar to lines fillet, so that I have 3 separate polylines, the two I started with and the arc as the third one.

  1. Click Home tabModify panelEdit Polyline. Find
  2. Select a polyline, spline, line, or arc to edit. If you selected a spline, line, or arc, press Enter to convert the selected object into a polyline.
  3. Enter j (Join).
  4. Select one or more polylines, splines, lines, or arcs that are located end to end.
  5. Press Enter to end the command.
Note:
  • Spline-fit polylines return to their original shape when joined. Polylines cannot be joined into a Y shape.
  • If the properties of several objects being joined into a polyline differ, the resulting polyline inherits the properties of the first object that you selected.

In AutoCAD 2014, you use the Join command to fill gaps between lines, arcs, elliptical arcs, open splines, 2D and 3D polylines, and helixes. If the lines are collinear (they lie in the same straight line) or the arcs, splines, polylines, or elliptical arcs are on a similarly curved path, Join creates a single new entity to replace the existing separate pieces.

Objects to be joined must be collinear or else their ends must be coincident. You can’t join noncollinear objects that have gaps between them or that cross or overlap.

The following steps describe how to use the Join command:

  1. Click the Modify panel title at the bottom edge of the Ribbon’s Home tab to open the Modify panel’s slideout, and then click the Join button.

If you foresee doing a lot of joinery, you can pin open the slideout. AutoCAD prompts you to select the source object.

  2. Select the source object — that is, the object you want to join other objects to.

How long is wtfast free trial. AutoCAD prompts you according to the object type you selected. If you select a line, the command line or Dynamic Input tooltip shows this message:

  3. Select valid objects to join to the original source object.

For example, if you selected a line as the source object, AutoCAD continues prompting for additional adjoining lines until you press Enter to end the object selection.

  4. Press Enter to end the command.

AutoCAD joins the selected objects into a single object. The new object inherits relevant properties, such as the layer or linetype of the source object.

Autocad Merge Two Closed Polylines

You aren’t limited to selecting a single object at the first prompt. If you select multiple objects by using windowing, Join joins whatever objects it can and rejects those that it can’t.

You can turn an arc into a circle or an elliptical arc into a full ellipse with Join’s cLose option.
